Inner School Karate Tournament
We tried to get our 2nd Inner School Tournament organized for October, however, time got away from us, and we have too much going on in October, while the Holidays are right around the corner.
We will try to setup a tournament for next year around February/March.
Open Karate Tournament
Many students have asked, "can I compete in Open Karate tournaments?"
My reply is always "yes, but you must be a member of our Black Belt Club."
Because we no longer train and prepare students for tournaments in regular classes. We've reserved that to Black Belt Club class on Fridays. There is too much to be taught for tournament competition.
In addition, Black Belt Club members have decided to take their training to the next level by learning new skills, such as weapons, grappling, rondori, etc.
Plus, Black Belt Club members get the really cool uniforms that have custom embroidery with The Dojo of Karate logo on the back. A great way to represent their martial arts school at a tournament.
If Black Belt Club interests you, please talk to Mr. Lozano about what it takes to join Black Belt Club.
Speaking of Open Karate Tournaments, many of our students competed at the CKA Martial Arts Regionals in Parker, CO this past weekend, October 9th.
Students who competed and placed are as followed:
Finalist in Forms, Finalist is Sparring.
3rd Place in Forms, 3rd Place in Sparring.
3rd Place in Forms, 2nd Place in Sparring.
Madeline P. was also competing in winning her 1st Colorado State Title in the Forms division, and simply fell just short from capturing her goal. But, she worked hard all year, and did her absolute best for her 1st full year of competing in Karate tournaments.
When you get a chance, please make sure you congratulate all of competitors for their hard work.
Adult Self-Defense Seminar
We will be hosting a FREE Adult Self-Defense Seminar on Saturday, November 6th from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at The Dojo of Karate.
This is a great opportunity for parents of our dojo and friends to tryout our self-defense workshop and see what it is all about.
And, at the very least, you gain some self-defense skills.
We will have a registration form shortly at the front desk, and online. Please keep your eyes peeled for that.
What To Bring:
A great attitude, some water, and maybe a towel. You will get a decent workout.
What To Wear:
Something comfortable that allows you to move around such as shorts, sweats, t-shirt, or exercise clothing.
Who Can Participate:
This is only reserved to adults about the age of 16 years old. Anyone else will be too young. And, you do not need to be a member of our dojo, this is open to the community.

2nd Annual Holiday Potluck & Award Banquet
We have made it a tradition at The Dojo of Karate to host an annual potluck to allow members of our dojo to mingle, get to know each other, and simply hangout like a community. This is also a great opportunity to simply enjoy the Holidays with friends made at The Dojo.
This year we will be hosting our Holiday Potluck and Award Banquet on Friday, December 3rd from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM.
The location has not been determined, as we are working on that, but we will let you know as soon as we find out.
All we ask is that every guest brings a dish to share, which can include drinks, dessert, entrees, appetizers, etc.
We will also host an Award Banquet again this year.
Our Award Banquet is a great opportunity for students at The Dojo of Karate to be recognized in front of their peers. We have various awards from "Best Mile High Kicks" to "Best Tournament Competitor" to "Best All Round". These awards are to help inspire and encourage students to perform their best at The Dojo of Karate while training.
Until Next Month,
Sensei Javier Lozano, Jr.
