Teens & Adults

Adult Self Defense Karate Lessons

Sensei Lozano has 22+ years of Wado Kai Karate training, holds a 3rd Degree Black Belt, and is a former NASKA World Champion Fighter.

These classes are designated for our teens and adult students of all experience levels. This type of class setting allows for students to not only learn from seasoned martial artists, but also develop basic fundamentals with other beginners.

Students will be learning the traditional Japanese art of Wado Karate, which is one of the four major styles that Japan has officially recognized at true Karate, known as Shito-Ryu, Goju-Ryu, Shotokan, and Wado-Ryu.

During every class session you will develop proper balance and body awareness, how to move your center-line (middle of your body), increase your leg strength and flexibility, expand your power and quickness of the arms, hands and body, as well as gain self-confidence of your skills.

Students also learn a pattern of moves known as Katas in Japanese, or forms in English. These katas will assist in enhancing your technique and developing a solid foundation of Wado Karate.

Kata is like a sequence of fighting moves performed individually, and become more complex as you move up the belt ranks.

In addition, we believe in following tradition in our dojo, therefore we teach all of our classes using Japanese terminology, traditional bows and concepts, and other factors that many dojos follow. But don’t be alarmed, we explain everything in our classes in English, so you know what you are doing, and why!

Gain Confidence and Learn Self-Defense Skills

Karate and Self-Defense

Black Belts aren’t the only one’s that can defend themselves…

After 6 months of training, we also allow students to apply their learned techniques of kicks, blocks, and punches into use by allowing students to participate in kumite with a partner. This is controlled contact sparring with a partner, and is a great way to learn how to apply and combine proper execution of techniques such as kicks, punches and blocks and improve basic body movement.

Sparring is performed in a controlled manner and all students are required to wear protective equipment, which can be purchased at our dojo.

You will also learn applicable self-defense moves that can be used in this modern world. These moves can consist of strikes to pressure points, breaks, locks to joints and escapes from grabs.

Better Strength And Endurance Training

We also incorporate modern training exercises to help develop and tone the muscles for a total body workout. Sometimes these workouts can consist of plyometrics and isometrics, by working certain muscle groups. Other times, classes will strictly work on endurance and repetition by working on free-standing bags.

By combining all of these moves, techniques, and exercises, you are guaranteed to get a great, all round, total body workout, and knowledge about traditional Japanese Wado Karate.

We are so confident that you and or your child will see the tremendous benefits in our Martial Arts program, that we would like to offer you an opportunity to try it, risk free for the first 30 days.
