The Dojo of Karate Testimonial Contest

The Dojo of Karate appreciates all of your kind testimonials about our programs.

The Dojo of Karate will be promoting a Testimonial Contest within the school, as a form of internal marketing that will allow other families the opportunity to hear about your enjoyable experience in our Karate program.

As we’ve mentioned before in the past, testimonials are like GOLD to us, and we greatly appreciate them.

With that said, our testimonial contest isn’t about who can give the best testimonial, rather who can give the most variety of testimonials.

For each type of testimonial a family gives, your child’s name will be placed in a fish bowl where we will do a drawing for various prizes.

Even if you have 2+ kids taking Karate, it’s going to be for the entire family, as it’s sorta unfair for the families that only have 1 child in Karate lessons.

The Testimonial Contest will run from May 1st to May 15th.  Any testimonials turned in AFTER May 15th will not be accepted.

So, this is how our Testimonial Contest will work.

  1. Written Testimonial = 1 name in fish bowl.  You will need to write a testimonial, preferably emailed to Sensei Lozano about your amazing experience at The Dojo of Karate.
  2. Non-Parent Questionnaire = 2 names in fish bowl- There will ONLY be 3 questions asked that a NON-Parent will need to answer about the training student.  This can be answered by a grandparent, teacher, neighbor or babysitter.  These need to be turned in to Sensei Lozano.
  3. Video Testimonial = 3 names in fish bowl.  You will need to do a quick 60 second or less video testimonial about The Dojo of Karate, with your kid(s) (if you’re an adult, just you is fine).  We’ll come up with EASY questions to ask you, we just ask you say something cool about your experience.

Google Plus Testimonial

As many of you know, Google is taking over the internet world, and as they continue to grow their market, it is becoming more difficult for small businesses to compete with large organizations.

Google has created a product called, Google Plus - a spin off of the Facebook social media platform.  With the Google Plus product, Google has made it a bit more difficult for normal users and clients to review local businesses because the client would need a Google Plus account.

Typically speaking, if you have a Gmail Account, then you can create a FREE Google Plus account, and then start enjoying the various benefits of Google Plus.

Go to The Dojo of Karate’s Google Plus Business Page. There, you’ll find on the right side a button that says “write review”.

If you are logged into Gmail / Google Plus, you can write a review easily.  If you are not, then you’ll need to create a Google Plus Account.

Once it’s been created, then you can write your review online.

Bonus Testimonial

If you have a Google Plus account and write a positive review, along with a high star rating, about The Dojo of Karate, we’ll give you 3 extra names in the fish bowl, which can increase your odds of winning 1 of 3 prizes.

NOTE: We ask that you do a review on Google Plus and not Yelp or other review sites, as some of the other sites filter their reviews if you are not a regular user.

Testimonial Contest Prizes

There will be 3 types of prizes for our Testimonial Contest participants, so here are the following:

  • 2nd Runner Up – This winner will get an official embroidered hat, with The Dojo of Karate logo.
  • 1st Runner Up – This winner will get an official gear bag, with The Dojo of Karate logo.
  • Grand Prize Winner – This winner will get a NEW set of sparring gear with The Dojo of Karate logo’s on the gear.

Please keep in mind that none of these items have been offered or sold to anyone before, so the winners will be receiving unique prizes.

These items will be made available down the road, but our winners will be the first to receive them.

We Plan On Using These Testimonials…

As a way of sharing one’s experience at The Dojo of Karate to prospects and families along one of our walls, so that parents and kids can read about the various success one has enjoyed while training here.  In addition, we would love to use the video testimonials as a form of marketing on our website, so that other prospects can see that The Dojo of Karate is really a community of families.

Download Testimonial Forms!

Below are 2 sets of testimonial forms that we ask parents and students to fill out.  There is a Witness Testimonial Form and a Student Testimonial Form.  Please download each one so you can increase your opportunity to win a prize!

Witness Testimonial Form – This needs to be filled out by a non-parent and/or non-student, such as a babysitter, grandparent, relative, or school teacher.

Student Testimonial Form – This needs to be filled out by the parent or Adult Karate Student.

Please turn in these forms to The Dojo of Karate so we can put you name into the fish bowl!

Dyslexia In A Karate Instructor

Karate has a tendency to help people with learning disorders, including dyslexia.

Is your child Dyslexic or ADHD? Does he have a hard time learning in a classroom setting or staying focused the entire time?

No need to worry…

As a child I always had difficulty comprehending basic to advanced material in Reading, Writing, and English. These subjects, by far, were my most challenging ones because the rules to Writing and English never made sense to me. And, in Reading, I couldn’t retain the information.

This presented a major problem for me as a child because I began to fall behind in those subjects. I always knew I was “different” but I didn’t realize why I was different.
As I got older, and started to research my dilemma, I found out that I was Dyslexic. I researched all the causes, symptoms, and cures to dyslexia and learned that people with this type of learning disorder find alternative ways to be successful.

Some of the most well known CEOs, Entrepreneurs, Athletes, and Entertainers are gifted with Dyslexia – but that didn’t stop them from being successful…

My 18 + years of training in the Martial Arts has helped focus my mind and body in every subject matter I spearhead, or obstacle I encounter. I also discovered new methods of learning by making things more visual and envisioning it in my head. I am a visual person – meaning I tend to comprehend material when I see it in front of me, rather than reading a book and taking a test. So, I had to always change my approach. Plus, I would set mini goals that were attainable to help me get small victories and encourage me to move forward.

I know for a fact that my training in Karate has helped me surpass the challenges some face with Dyslexia and ADHD.

If you would like to help your child become more focus in school and life, sign them up for Karate lessons.  It will be the best investment you’ve ever made.

I guarantee it.

Sincerely,

Javier Lozano, Jr.

The Dojo of Karate Joins Guseikai

October 26th, 2010 – Westminster, CO — Recently, The Dojo of Karate & Fitness, a Westminster, CO based traditional Japanese Karate school was informed they will become a member of the US based Wado Guseikai USA.

Wado Guseikai USA is widely considered as one of the best US based Wado organizations that is directly affiliated with the JKF-Wado Kai (Japanese Karate-do Federation Wado Kai), the governing body for Wado Kai Karate.

Chief Instructor, Sensei Bob Nash is a 7th Dan Black Belt through the JKF-Wado Kai and operates the Wado Guseikai USA branch out of Seattle, Washington.  He is respectfully recognized throughout the United States, Europe and Australia as one of the top Wado Kai practitioners and teachers.

Sensei Nash currently trains under Dr. Hideho Takagi Sensei, 8th Dan Black Belt JKF-Wado Kai, who opened the first Guseikai dojo in Tokyo, Japan.

What Does This Mean?

The Dojo of Karate is the only Wado Kai Karate school associated with Wado Guseikai USA in the Denver Metro Area.  The only other school in Colorado apart of this organization is in Conifer, CO called Conifer Japanese Karate-Do with Sensei David Sasaki.

By joining Wado Guseikai USA, The Dojo of Karate will be apart of an international organization that is widely recognized as a top tier dojo throughout the United States.

The best way to look at this is… Wado Guseikai is to Ivy League Graduate School, while your local martial arts school is to Junior College in your state.  The standards are much higher, and the quality of instruction is much better.

This is not to undermine other martial art schools in the area, it simply means that obtaining a Black Belt at The Dojo of Karate will be much more challenging, yet once you achieve it, you know you are considered one of the best.

Benefits of Being a Member at The Dojo Of Karate

Students that become a member of The Dojo of Karate are essentially a member of Wado Guseikai USA.  With that said, Sensei Bob Nash will make periodic visits to host a Wado Kai Karate Seminar in Colorado in order to help improve students and elaborate a wealth of information and knowledge about Wado Karate.

In addition, students will have an opportunity to train in Tokyo, Japan with Takagi Sensei, at his dojo.  As mentioned before, Takagi Sensei is widely recognized as the best Wado Karate-ka in the world.

Lastly, any student that qualifies to test for their Shodan, 1st Degree Black Belt, if they pass, they will be recognized in Japan through the JKF-Wado Kai.  Their certificate will be signed by the current president of the JKF-Wado Kai and carry an official stamp that is recorded on the certificate and in a “book of Black Belts” to certify one’s Dan rank.

The Dojo of Karate Chief Instructor

Chief Instructor, Javier Lozano, Jr. owns and operates The Dojo of Karate & Fitness.  He is currently a 3rd Degree Black Belt through the U.S. Eastern Wado-Ryu Karate-Do Federation.  However, the JKF-Wado Kai does not recognize his current rank, therefore, he needed to train and retest for Shodan, 1st Degree Black Belt.

This is a humbling act for anyone, especially since Javier has 20 years of martial arts experience, as well as numerous accomplishments, including being a professional athlete in Sport Karate to winning a NASKA World Championship in fighting, to name a few.

Javier took the Shodan exam in Nashville, Tennessee on October 24th, 2010 and passed.

“This was probably one of the most difficult examinations I have ever taken in my martial arts career, due to the high demands that are required in becoming a Black Belt through Wado Guseikai USA.  I still have skills to improve, but this is simply a stepping stone to becoming better in Wado Kai Karate and allowing my students to grow and improve their skills too.  I plan on testing for my Nidan (2nd Degree Black Belt) in May, 2011 back in Nashville, Tennessee.”

The pass rate for Dan examinations in Wado Guseikai USA is 50% — meaning only half of all participants past the test.  This time around, though, there was a 100% pass rate for the 1st time.  That was an amazing accomplishment by a group of 8 testers.

Are You Interested In Training In Wado Kai Karate?

Call The Dojo of Karate immediately and setup an appointment with Mr. Lozano so he can teach you some basic martial arts techniques.  You don’t necessarily need to have the immediate goal of becoming a Black Belt right now.  All you need is the willingness to learn traditional Wado Karate.  Everything else comes with time.  There is no obligation to tryout his program, and it gives an introduction to Karate.
