Happy Cinco De Mayo

Wow! It’s been awhile… I remember last year on this day, I was dreaming of opening my Karate school for the late summer, early fall. I had finished my business plan completely, moved into a new condo I just bought, and had plans on seeking business loans for the school. One year later… I’m not open… yet.

I guess I should catch you guys up with what’s been going on lately, since it’s been awhile. A couple of weeks ago myself and a few friends, the same from the last demo group, finished taking down all the walls and throwing it in the dumpster I had rented. We basically were able to finish everything in about 3 hours. Luckily though, my buddy Brent had showed up on Friday and was able to take down the middle wall that separated the offices for State Farm. This allowed us to simply focus on getting all the rubbish outside of the school. Thanks again for all the help guys!!

My architect finished the drawings for the school, and it looks great! He kept it very simple, worked within my budget, and was able to also create an office for me. I’m hoping to have the designs printed tomorrow and stamped by my architect, so I can take it to the city of Westminster for approval. From there, I’ll probably contact the General Contractor that came by the school about 1 month ago and see what he can do. He’s still interested, which is good to hear.

So, all I’m really looking at now is hiring a plumber and electrician. I’m suppose to get some referrals from my architect, so hopefully I can make some phone calls this week.

As for the outdoor electrical signage I need to get for the school, I’m still waiting for a quote from a couple of business, but it is getting sooo frustrating. I was gonna go find some places on Saturday, but apparently they are all closed on Saturdays. So I called a bunch of places, sent a few emails requesting for a quote. The first company I sent an email to was very responsive, but their price is a bit out of my price range. We’ll see what this week brings me and if I will get any responses.

I’m also working on press releases, and have submitted one to a couple of PR sites. Don’t know how this will help me, but from an SEO perspective it’s ideal to write articles for public relations and web marketing. I’ll probably also submit some of these articles to social websites such as Digg, Reddit, Del.icio.us, etc.

Until next time!
